글로벌 공동강의는 본교 교원과 해외저명대학 교원이 함께 만드는 수준 높은 수업을 학생들에게 제공하여 학생들의 글로벌 학습경험을 확대하여 본교 교육 수준 제고 및 글로벌 학습 플랫폼을 구축하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 다양한 기반으로 해외대학과의 공동교육과정 운영, 공동 연구 등을 촉진하기 위한 성균관대학교의 특성화 프로그램으로 중점적으로 운영되고 있다.
1. 강연자: Jin Y. Park
- William Fraser McDowell Chair Professor & Chair of Philosophy and Religion at American University; Founding Director of the Asian Studies Program (2013–2020).
- Specialist in East Asian Buddhism, Buddhist and comparative ethics, and intercultural philosophy, with a focus on gender, violence, discrimination, and marginality.
- Author and editor of influential works, including Buddhism and Postmodernity, Women and Buddhist Philosophy, and the translation Reflections of a Zen Buddhist Nun.
2. 특강 주제 및 내용: Translating Violence and the Possibility of Hope
"How can we confront the wounds of violence and speak of hope for the future?"
In this lecture — “Translating Violence and the Possibility of Hope” — Jin Y. Park, William Fraser McDowell Chair Professor at American University and former President of the American Academy of Religion, begins with the 1980 Gwangju Democratic Uprising and Han Kang’s Human Acts.
Drawing on Eastern and Western — especially Korean and other non-Western — philosophies, the talk explores how violence might be “translated” into a language of hope through nonviolent resistance and “reflexive engagement.”
Participants are invited to reflect on how Korean philosophy can address contemporary global challenges and imagine paths of dignity, healing, and hope.

이번 강연은 아메리칸 대학교 윌리엄 프레이저 맥도웰 석좌교수이자 전 미국종교학회 회장인 박진영(Jin Y. Park) 교수님을 모시고 1980년 광주민주화운동과 한강의 소설 『소년이 온다』를 통해 국가 폭력이 남긴 깊은 상처와 그 기억의 문제를 탐색하며 그 회복의 과정을 들여다봅니다. 이 강연에서는 동서양, 특히 한국 및 비서구 철학을 아우르며 복수나 증오가 아닌 '비폭력적 저항'과 ‘성찰적 참여’를 통해 가해자와 피해자의 이분법을 넘어서는 길을 탐색하며, 폭력의 시대를 살아가는 우리가 어떻게 인간의 존엄성을 지키고 지속가능한 치유와 희망을 만들어갈 수 있는지에 대한 깊이 있는 통찰을 제공할 것입니다. 여러분들의 많은 관심과 참여 부탁드립니다.
